Ants

Formicidae

Ants are tiny insects that live all around us. They are part of a family called Formicidae. Even though they are small, ants are very important for our world. They help the soil, plants, and even keep pests away. Ants show us how healthy our environment is. They work hard, are very organized, and never give up!

You can find ants almost anywhere in the world, except for the very coldest place, Antarctica. There are over 12,000 types of ants! They can be as small as a dot or almost as big as your thumb. They come in many shapes and colors. This shows how well ants can live in different places.

The coolest thing about ants is how they live together. Each ant group, or colony, works together like one big super-ant. Each ant has a job. There are worker ants, soldier ants, and queen ants. They all work together to help the group. This teamwork is amazing! It’s like every ant knows exactly what to do. We can learn a lot from these tiny, hard-working creatures.
